Basildon AC Start 2017 with a Bang

Athletes from Basildon Athletics Club have made a blistering start to 2017 with Individual and Team success in a number of Club competitions.

EYAL Plate Final 03.09.16

Hemel Hempstead  03/09/2016

For the third time this year Basildon traveled to Hemel Hempstead, this time it was for the EYAL Plate final.  Basically this is a Trophy Meeting for the clubs who finished in position from 7 – 12 of the EYAL league.  There are trophies for each age group both male and female to be won.

After fine performances; Basildon U15 Boys won their category. This was achieved by most of them winning or coming second in their events.  Well done to that age group.  For most of the day the Basildon team was in second place to Chelmsford who lead, but after the relays and some gaps in the field events at the latter part of the day we finished up in third place overall. EMAC – Eastern Masters Championships

EMAC – Eastern Masters Championships  03/09/2016

Five of Basildon’s ever growing number of Veterans travelled to Sandy in Bedford for the annual Eastern Vets Championships. The five athletes came back with fourteen medals.heidi 04.09

The windy conditions didn’t help the athlete’s performances.  First off was the only female of the five Heidi Nicholas in the long jump, the ever changing wind  hampered the consistency of her run up however one safety jump produced a 4.75 jump which was enough to win the event.  Heidi then followed up with 100m and High jump win, the 200m which was a harder battle she finished overall second but won her age group (more…)

England U15/ U17 Championships

Three Silver Medals for Basildon Athletes

One of Basildon newest athletes Herbert Zumbika U15 Boy finished second in the England U15/U17 Championships.  With his leap of 13.10; Herbert moved from 6th in the ranking to 2nd in the country on Power 10, and set a new club record.  EA REPORT

Joseph Harding was another silver medalist from the club, he ran a personal best of 11.24 in the 80m hurdle after qualifying by winning his heat in 11.32.  Joseph also took part in the long jump where he closely missed out on a medal by finishing in 4th place in a personal best jump of 6.48.
